Question plastic vacuum lines...

I'm getting ready to do some upgrade work. Almost every time I work on my engine, it seems one of those color coded vacuum lines snap. I've been fixing them with electrical shrink tube with good results thus far, but I'd like to replace them with new lines or something better (maybe 1/8" aluminum tube -?). Anybody know a source for replacement or upgrade lines - or share how you fixed yours? Thanks

The easiest way to fix them is to reconnect the tube with a short peice of rubber vacuum hose. The aluminum tube idea would look trick, but not for long. Ford would probably be happy to sell you some new vacuum lines, but is it really worth it?

You can get the plastic line and kits from NAPA. The black seems to be the best, the original pink stuff turned to crap first especially in Arizona. You can make permanent bends with a heat gun and a wood dowell with a groove in it, kinda like a tubing bender. Takes a little practice and you have to get it HOT, ouch. Or just use the elbows that come with the kit or separately.
