I just picked up some Energy - Polyurethane Cab Mounts for my 1990 F-150 2X2 shortbox.
Well, I am confused... The kit I purchased never came with the hardware (Nuts and bolts etc...) I have no idea what size or grade bolts and nuts I need and really don't want to wait until I remove the old ones to find out. Does anyone have any info on what size bolts and nuts I need?
Also, I am thinking of doing the work myself. Is this a good idea or should I have someone else do it for me?
Does anyone have any instructions on replacing the cab mounts? please see the following images. These are the cab mounts I purchased. The Part number on the box is "4.4107G" and Energy Suspension website is HERE
Basically all you do is remove the three cab bolts on one side. Jack up that side. Remove the old bushings. You may have to cut or grind them to get them out. Just replace the old ones with the new ones. You should be able to reuse your old bolts. But if you need new ones, they are grade 8 bolts, not sure of length or diameter. To get the bolts loose, I would suggest heating them with a propane torch. Ford puts locktite on the bolts and it is some tough stuff! The heat burns off the locktite and makes it easier for you to get the nut off.
Hi- just take whichever bolt that's easiest to remove with you to the hardware store to get new one's. You may have to use a recipro saw on some of them. They don't have to be grade 8, mine were grade 5 (3 hash marks on the head). The job is very one person do-able.
