i searched this forum and didnt see anything on this subject,,,what i have is a f 250 with a 5.4 egr blown engine,,,my question is what 5.4 engines will work,,,ive been told they have to be out of a 250 ,,,,to me dont make sense ford would have made so many different engines,,,i know they went to 3v heads,,,,hope someone can answer and point me in the right direction
3v or 2v motor in your truck? sounds like you have a 2v
99-2003 F-150 had the 2v motor
some 2004 F-150's had the 2v motor (round fender, old body style)....square fender F-150 has the 3v motor
pretty much, you can pick any year model 5.4 2v motor and make it work. You'll have to swap your current intake onto it, and most likely the entire belt drive assembly.
'00-'04 SD's. '00-'03 F150 and Expy. E series has them still but you'd need to use your old intake and possibly other components. '99 was the switch over year from NPI ('97-'99) to PI, if it is a '99 PI it will work but not all '99s are PI engines.
Wish I would have known they still make them new in the vans, I would have looked harder for one when I replaced mine.
I am thinking it has to be a triton(truck motor) f150 e150 and such I also think you have the non pi( performance inhansed) version if you go with a pi motor you need the motor computer too....

Mine 02 f150 had an 03 expy put in it... but has the original ECM in it still. Should that have been replaced or retuned? It's not running right... thanks
