Post Modified Engine Performace

So on my Van, I have a rebuilt turbo, wicked wheel, 4' exhaust with no muffler and no converter, Stage I injectors, drilled out fuel plugs, 62psi fuel pressure, boost gauge, tranny temp gauge and egt gauges, black and grey CPS's. You know, all the fun stuff. My 14' Box Van with duallys weighs more than your dually diesel 4 door so I know if my Van hauls huge *** now, yours must be even better, I would hope.
So my question to you modified guys and one girl goes like this:
My fun is limited, is yours. I don't know what It is, but when I hammer it. It takes off like a 747 accelerating down the runway. But it only lasts like for 5 seconds. If i am on 120 race, 140 hp, 80dd, 25 tow, It seems like (because I don't have a tach) it reaches maximum rpm in a few short seconds then something stops the engine (probably the rev limiter) and if you keep the pedal down durring that "shut down time" a crap load of beautiful black smoke fills the sky. Is your fun really limited to these short bursts of awesomeness. Or maybe is my tranny suppose to be shifting way faster and at lower rpm's? If its rpm's, how would i possibly make my tranny shift quicker and lower?
Oh, unless its coincidence, its the same time my boost gauge hits 28 to 30 psi's. Tranny temp is usually around 140 and egt's are maybe 1k to 1200 under hard acceleration.

i think the WW in a van turbo has less performance then a stock wheel.
mine dose not do that but in not heavily modded.
maybe your trans is slipping?

May be time to get some data logging done. Does it do it once in od? Hpop may b struggling. To keep the icp pressure up.

you may need an over boost eliminator. i am not real familiar with php tunes, it may not be throwing a code but the ecm may still be derating. Bulla gave good advice on the hpop. to answer your question, no my fun is not limited to short burst.

for me, chunderdownunder makes it sound right. Overboosting then defueling. It kicks back to life after a few seconds. NOTE: seconds feel like minutes...
So i will try searching but as of now, i don't exactly know what an overboost eliminator is. I've never had a problem with my wicked wheel being on my van. By the time i put the pedal to the metal, I look over at my boost and its at 28 to 30psi's almost instantly.
I do have AE but i am not the smartest one in the bunch when it comes to figuring out what its really trying to say to me

If it is overboosting and the code is thrown, shouldn't it de fuel? If so then wouldn't it not smoke!?

Like David said, time for some datalogging. Your symptom sounds very similar to mine before I changed the hpop. It would launch great, then fall on its face as it reached its shift point. I already had an overboost regulator on it at the time and was getting an occasional overboost code, 'til I tweaked the adjustment, when under heavy acceleration, but no power loss. The typical ICP codes were popping up when read after hard runs. I figured my hpop was struggling to keep up, but didn't know it was that bad until it was datalogged.

Well i installed the boost ennialator and that was the problem. Thanks for the help guys. I installed it this morning. warmed it up for an hour or so. Gave it some pedal and boost swings right up to 32psi's while i am ennialating some poor teen in his rice burner.
