Well we finally know when we will become residents of Tennessee. We are gone on the 27th of this month. I love Michigan but am tired of shoveling snow and bitter cold weather. Political climate here is bad also. Besides we will see our grand-kids much more often, till my son-in-laws company transfers him again. This will be out last move.
I don't know what I would do if my kids/grandkids moved away. They are a part of our daily life. We spend a lot of time with our grandkids. They go camping and four-wheelin' with us quite a bit. Not to mention spending the night. And now that DW got a new puppy last weekend, they all want to be here 24/7.
Lakedweller............Congrats on the move to E. TN and soon you will be living in........."Mur-vul.........not .........mary-ville. When I first moved here in 2006 from Illinois (down here it is pronounced.......Ill a noise), someone asked me where I was living and I said....mary-ville. I believe the comment was..........yain't from round here urr ya? So, between now and the 27th, you are going to have to practice saying..........
Mur-vul.............Mur like murder and vul like vulcan!
Seriously, one of the reasons that I moved down here was because of previous vacation time here and realizing how absolutely beautiful it was here. My wife and I ride motorcycles, and this area of the country is motorcycle heaven. The weather is also much better here than in IL and I have only used my snow shovel one time since I've been here....Aug. 2006. The winters are a lot milder here and summertime here is not as severe or as humid as they were in the St. Louis area.

LOL
Yea had some practice 2 years ago when the kids lived in Mur Vul, they moved to Chattanooga and we started looking for a house there. My Son in Law was transferred to Knoxville so we found a house in Mur Vul, it fit my oldest grandson's mandate not to be more than 30 minutes from them..... I know we will love E Tenn we have spent a lot of time visiting, now we will be 7.5 hours closer....
Y'all been crossing paths with me somewhere somehow. I'm from S. Ill about an hour and half from St Louis. Y'all know where Pinckneyville is? It's not far from Carbondale.
We live in ATL area now. Love going up to Cherokee area, Pigeon Forge too, and my favorit part of Tennessee ..... BRISTOL!
Most of my family get at least one deer a year, without a gun! I have friends in Atlanta and in Florida that have taken hunting trips up there too. For us from there it was weird to think of that others coming there for hunting, now a lot of people are turning dirt farms into hunting clubs.
My parents retired in Vonore (just outside of Mur Vul) several years ago. We get out there once or twice a year and love that part of the country. Wish we were closer...
I'm about 5 to 6 miles from Vonore. Just off of U.S. 411 about 2 miles at the Thompson Bridge Road turnoff. I've got a somewhat limited view of the mountains from my back porch and I couldn't be paid enough money to move back to IL.
