I was at the pull-a-part this past weekend and saw a 1967 Galaxie. The invoice & build from the dealership was still in it along with the loan and payments, $87 dollars a month for 36 months...There was also a little quiz about cars from the dealership.

I almost had a '67 Galaxie in high school my dad wouldn't let me buy it
It had a 390 with a 4 speed, why would he not let me have that?
I would say cool car, but I don't really know that for sure!

LOL... My dad wouldn't let me buy a 66 Mustang 2+2 with a running 289... I was 14 years old... and he didn't like the idea of a running car at that age...
I had 4 cars and a motorcyle by the age of 18... First car was at a 14 then another at 15... Lost my license at the age on 15-1/2... didn't get a license until I was 17 traded my '68 Datsun 510 and my '59 Studabacker Lark for my dad's '49 Ford f1... Also had a '73 Honda CB350-4. and a '66 Olds 88.
I looked at a 69 cougar with my dad when I was 15. He took it for a ride down a back lane, showing offf by smoking the tires. He got to the main street and the brakes failed, shot accross the street not hitting anyone. After we got home and he changed his underwear; I was told I could not buy the car, ended up with a 68 Fargo pick-up 6 cyl.
I'm on the other side of this discussion - the dad. I bought my son a nice 2002 blue jeep wrangler - thought it would be a nice high school car - kind of cool but not too much power (4 cyl version). Being a jeep - he kept offroading it - turned it over going slow with girl passengers in someone's lot he wasn't supposed to be in. Everyone was ok - I told him to be more careful to keep the doors on the thing or else.
Spotted him taking his sister to Jr. high with no doors on there.
He now has one of the ugliest cars on earth - boring & safe - 2005 Malibu Maxx. Us dads suck. (That Jeep wheelbase is too short - way too easy to turn over).

Ben in Austin
If he abuses that one, I have a buddy whose dad was a Lada dealer back in the day and still has some in the back 40. lol
I ended up driving the '49 ford f1 that made my day... Also had a '59 Mercades 190, '64 T-bird, '37 HD 45 (these belong to my dad) and '66 Mustang Coupe 289 that belonged to my sister.
When I was 16, I wanted an 50 Olds convertible. My dad said he would keep his eye out for one, but what he brought home for me was a 50 Studebaker Champion. I had the slowest ride of any of my friends. Trouble was, it took me almost 4 years to make it stop running so I could upgrade. When my daughter was 16, I bought her a new 84 Merc Lynx GS which she drove all through high school and college and grad school.

Sorry for being so ignorant - what's a "pull-a-part"?
