53 f100 door glass

Working on my doors. I may have screwed up. I have put in the vent windows, division bar and the glass run at the back of the doors. Started putting in the topand back felt. I cannot get the glass in. It hasbeen a little while since I had to replace one of my windows but I believe I was able to do it without removing anything.

Remove the fasteners from the bottom of the division bar and loosen the top screws then move to bottom a bit forward while you maneuver the glass into the run.

I got the glass in and the window mechanism connected. I am now having problem with the felt ru not wanting to go all the way in at the top starting at the snap tight after the curve. I tried removing it and the last two snaps pulled out of the run. Any suggestions short of buying a new one?

I'm in the process of assembling the innards and weatherstrip of both doors. They were newly painted and then put in storage. I chose to assemble them off the truck on a padded cradle on a table. Installing the glass run and anti rattle pieces has been a challenge and very frustrating. On mine I also found that the round snaps wouldn't go in properly. For most of them it was an alignment problem as the hole wasn't centered on the door slot. After I figured that out, I was able to "steer" the run slightly by tilting it sideways while pressing it in. I ruined the snap and it's raised bracket that is just below the radius. I had tried to force it by tapping a piece of 1/4" wide steel in the glass slot. I ended up carefully drilling out the rivets and removing the raised bracket and snap. Then made a shim of correct thickness (a piece of pvc), then pre-drilled and used a very small sheet metal screw to attach the run. Fortunately there is enough metal on both sides of the snap hole to allow for the screw.

Another issue I'm having, the slot in the door at the window bottom is not wide enough on the passenger door. There is not enough clearance for the glass when both anti-rattle felts are installed. I believe I will have to leave the inner felt off. I'm thinking I'll look for a thin peel & stick rubber instead.

For the slot at the bottom of the door, I pried it open using some wooden wedges. You can also look at the instructions for one piece glass on Mid Fifty's web site. They made a tool to help with doing the prying.

Marten, I missed that opportunity because the door is finish painted. Another one of those things I would do differently if I knew then what I know now...
Thank you

Got the back window run installed. Not 100% happy but it isn't going to be a show truck. How do the strips along door edge go in? I can't get the snaps to snap in. Have pulled two of them out and had to repair them.
