Hey guys I have a 99 f350 with a v10 in it. Problem is I need a head gasket replaced and can't find anybody to do it except the dealer and I'm not taking it to them. I'm in the johnson city area any help would be appreciated. Btw who is in the jc/Elizabethton area?
I have a shop (2 car garage) if you need some help but a little booked up for a couple of weeks.
There are a few of us in JC and a couple in Elizabethton too. We get together from time to time to work on Fords and eat and drink. Emphasis on the eat and drink.
Good to know theres a few people close. I looked at the truck today while it was light outside and the truck is leaking where the oil filter screws on. so i pulled the filter and checked it out. The surface where the gasket meets is pitted but there is a small hole too. How does the oil cooler seperate? doesnt seem to be bolted on or anything.

What exactly is it leaking?
I think what you are referring to is the oil filter adapter. It mates to the block, the oil filter screws onto it, and has the lower radiator hose running to it as well? If that's it, there is a gasket where it mates to the block, and it usually starts leaking after a while. It's held on by 2 bolts that are really a pain to get to, usually resulting in jacking up the truck and pulling the wheel and using a really long extension. Then comes putting the gasket back on and keeping it in place while you try and fish that adapter back in there......good luck to you sir
Found the leak, surface where the filter meets the cooler is corroded and has holes in it. Does anyone in the area have a spare cooler? If not I'm just going to eliminate the cooler and put the filter directly on. I'm waiting on the dealer to get the piece in hopefully tomorrow.
