Hey, need help
I have always loved Fords. I have an 04 F150 STX Heritage.
Well, my parents have a 99 F-250 Lariat 4 door 4x4
its a very nice truck but it runs rough
It runs a little bad when on an upgrade. Even a slight upgrade or hill.
When you step on the throttle quickly it flutters before it revs.
I ran a can of fog sea-foam through it and it never even smoked or fogged like they usually do.
So, I am assuming the engine is clean. It did however improve the idle a bit.
But the missing type feel is there. As though it is missing on a cylinder.
The top two spark plugs on the right side when I'm facing the engine, seem to be loose and the other 6 seem to be very tight. I tried to tighten them down but the 5/16? nut feels tight although I can wiggle it circular like turning a key(not the nut but the assembly) The oil looks good. I don't know what else it could be. Has anyone had a common problem such as this and a way to remedy? Thank you I_love_fords
1) Spark plugs. When was the last time they were changed? Can't remember? Change them.
2) COP. Not as likely to fail as the spark plugs, but cheap and easy.
3) Injectors. I'm not saying go replace them (but they are cheap, fyi) just look into diagnosing them.
4) Air Intake. With out air, fuel goes unburned. Check everything in the intake system.
5) Exhaust. If you cant breath out, you cant breath in. Check the exhaust manifolds for leaks, its pretty common. Check to see if the truck is storing any codes. A clogged catalytic converter will definitely rob a truck of power.
Hope you figure something out!
