hey guys i have a problem with my 1993 f250 gas truck. the clutch is having a problem lol. ok so if i start off in first and i slightly let out the clutch it engages.
and when i go to put it in i have 1 or 2 inchs of play. it makes it hard to put into gear even when i have it mashed into the floor lol. does anyone have an idea? could it be i need a new clutch ? or do all the bushings or just add fluid? thanks for the help guys.
Then you might want to drop the pedal support and look at the plastic bushings up where the clutch shaft passes through both sides.
EDIT;
Wait, you say the rod goes in but doesn't build any pressure.
Could be low on fluid, but if so it has to be going somewhere.
Is this a Windsor or a 460? (internal or external slave)
im not too too sure but i think its external slave.. and not too sure about the starter lock out.. but there is alil white piece that comes out when i put the clutch in and when i put the cltuch back up it pushes the white piece in no idea what it would be for
This makes it difficult to see if the slave cylinder leaks, or if it is bleeding down.
If the reservoir is full and everything you've looked at has no slop then unfortunately it is most likely the slave cylinder is failing.
In your case this means you must remove the transmission to change it.
Well Jim, whats this mean then?
My truck has this recurring issue....
About once a week, I have to refill my resevoir....Truck shifts perfect...Until it gets low on fluid...Then 1/3 gears become a PITA to change in/out of.....
Any ideas there? Checked for leaks....Everything is dry on the resevoir, and the hose...All the way into the tranny housing....
