97 ranger transmision id

I know that this question has probably been asked a million times, but I was wondering what type of manual transmission I have in my ranger. It is a 97 ranger with the 4 cylinder with the 8 spark plugs. Is the transmission a tremec, T5, T45, world class T5? Just wondering, thinking of changing my transmission, seems weak. I am not looking for factory codes or anything of that sort, just what type it is so I know if to upgrade it or rebuild it. Thanks. Scottie

Your Ranger has a MAZDA transmission. Commonly referred to as an MAZDA R1.

Thanks for the help!!! That website was great. Now to yank that poor excuse for a manual transmission out to replace it with a real one, like a T5. Thanks a whole bunch. Scottie

Same question, I have 2.5 liter Ranger 98 .What type of transmision I can find in this car ? Witch other cars are equiped in it ? Its 2WD. Please Help i can't find parts in my country.
