Hey ya'll. Gotta tricky question for ya'll. I've installed a complete 1978 460 in my `72 F100. I tried to wire in the ign.module they way the wiring diagrams had it, that I found on this site. But it wouldn"t start with the "white" wire tied into the ign.For 12v only @ start up. If I leave it un connected it starts rite up & runs & drives great. I assume since it only needs 12v @ start up,its like some kind of exciter wire for the module. Could it be a bad module? Been driving for a couple weeks unconnected. Any ideas? Thankx

I found this which may explain your issue:
The white wire is "spark retard". This wire goes to the post marked "I" on a Ford starter solenoid. Battery voltage appears on that post only while the starter is cranking. This crudely retards the spark for easier starting."
