Ok guys Im installing these SkyPod Plasma Glow Led (clearence) lights on the roof of my truck (F250 XLT Ext cab 5.4 v8) .They are the ones that have the yellow park lights and white lights when in reverse. I got all of the lights mounted and now its time to wire everything up.
Directions pretty simplex 3 wires , black is ground , red is for park lights and white is for reverse .
Ground I know but where do I find my park and reverse wire to splice ?
Your profile says you have an '06 5.4L, is that right?
The wire color for parking/clearance lights, is Dark Brown.
The wire color for reverse lights is Black/Pink Stripe.
You can find both of these wires on the back side of the Central Junction Block.
The Clearance lights are supposed to wire into a connector behind the pasenger side kick panel. But since you have to wire down the drivers side to the CJB, I would just pick up both wires there.
I'm a little surprised that those reverse lights up high on the cab are not illegal. Seems like they would blind other drivers.
Thank bpounds. that dont sond to hard right now i still have everything wide open so is it better to go from the passenger side ?
It would be for the clearance lights, but I don't think there is a wire on that side for the reverse lights. The Central Junction Block is the fuse block under the steering wheel. So I would pull the wires down the drivers side A pillar, and wire to the back of the CJB. The CJB drops down with just 4 bolts. Make sure the wires are there, I think they are, and just splice into them.
I tapped into the wires directly behind the headlight switch. quick and easy to ground and get the daytime running lamps wire (brown).
not sure if there is a reverse wire over there though

I know an electrician who will tell you to remove genital rings when working on a battery. He shorted out from his wedding ring to his "rooster" ring 1 day. Freaking hilarious. I couldn't stand for 30 minutes I was laughing so hard
You may have a reverse light wire to your inside rear view mirror if it's auto dimming. The reverse wire to the mirror is to prevent the mirror from dimming when in reverse.
