Basics question...carb/air cleaner.
Is there any particular lines that are critical for proper carb adjustments. (relative to the air cleaner housing)
Picked up my first real truck 86 f250 w/460 c6. with 73k miles.
If spring ever shows up...I can start tuning.
Once warmed my truck Idles high.
Any air cleaner upgrades to recomend?
Looking forward to tuning, u joints, tightening up front suspension (Bushings?) Checking out brakes, and eventually painting, if I don't come across any major problems.
I'm hoping to pull a decent sized horse trailer with this puppy.
I'm fairly sure the gear ratio is set up for hauling.
Bring on your advise...great web page here.
Thanks /D
If it idles high, the first thing I would check is after it is warmed up, pull the aircleaner lid off and make sure the choke door on top of the carb throat is standing straight up-wide open. If it is half closed, then it's probably still on the fast idle cam. You can turn the black round choke housing on the passenger side of the carb to adjust the choke so it is wide open when warm. But I would put a mark on it so you can put the adjustment back if you have to.
