Added some driving lights below the bumper. Nothing special, just got tired of not being able to see where i was backing at night. plus it helps get the tailgaters off your back. right not they're wired to a toggle, so i can turn them off or on whenever i want, but i'm considering wiring them to the light harness so they come on automatically when i throw it into reverse... haven't made up my mind yet... they work great for $20 at Autozone, but they do have a leak, so when it rains, they fill up...
If you tow trailers, you don't want them hooked up to the gear selector. The light bounces off the front of the trailer and you can't see where you're backing the trailer when it's dark.
I've got my auxiliary back up lights on a rocker switch. Turn them on when needed, but leave them off when towing.

I have my aux lights hooked up normal but my lights are mounted more toward the center of the truck and don't seem to cause much of a problem. Although I have bright back-up lights on trailer so I don't seem to have a problem.
I can see your point though where that could be a problem, especially if you didn't have back-up lights on the trailer.
