I have a 1988 F-150 larient xlt with 5.0 V8 EFI, I was recently replacing the driver side drum shoes..when a rusted brake line snapped, I tried to go to the local part store for the right size line. After I bought 1 foot of similar in size line I realized that the ford brake line has two different size adapter ends. Where can I find one of these lines??
Your best bet is to salvage to old fitting, and put it on the new line. Of course you will have to re-flare, but that’s easy.
If you cannot salvage it, you can get an adapter for the fitting on the 3/16 line.
Let me know how it works out.
Check with a napa/professional jobber type parts house or look for a place that specializes in brake parts they can make up pretty much anything if you bring the old brake line. Even places that handle hydraulic lines could hook you up. Remember stopping and steering are mandatory everything else is optional ! .
I ended up finding the right size line at NAPA, but I needed to buy the flanging and cutting tools to get it done. But yes, I now have functioning back brakes and all it took was two brake cylinders, two new brake lines, and the shoes. Now on to my front brakes...I need new rotors, pads and calipers:-( hopefully I wont need any help with these.
