That is a nice clean truck.... but personally I would of went from 94 - 70's
At least you got a good solid built engine!
Can't say the same about the Mazda 5 speed though....
Don't be to hard on it and she'll do fine.
Be sure to replace the factory rubber plugs on the top of the shifter tower.
You have to remove the floor hump to access them. They love leaking, and only leak as you drive, run the tranny low on oil, and damage 'em. Those plugs leaking are the number 1 reason for failures in those transmissions!
This is what i'm talking about. Very easy to access just be removing the floor hump. I have another pic with the cab on if you wanna see it.

ha yeah but now that i can get the 79 off the road and start restoring her a bit the buffalo winters have taken a toll. pshh doesnt sound like to big of and issue as long as you got the time and space to work on it and yeah throw those pics up there
Here you go. You can see those 3 rubber plugs facing the back of the truck.
I believe from reading on here, Ford sells a "repair" kit for these, using copper plugs, so they never go bad once you replace 'em.
Might wanna check at a Ford dealer for those.
