the truck is really gutless because it should be able to at least make the tires spin when you take off hard with the truck empty, not even a squeak out of the tires. pulling a 16 foot flat bed tandom axle goose neck trailer empty you really have to mash the throttle down to go up a slight incline going down the freeway. I read in one of the responses about the cat. being plugged?? how can I check this? cut it off and use a "test pipe" The truck had a new trans put in it several years ago but only about 20,000 mi ago. to me it shifts too fast into OD and takes alot of throttle to shift down. Is a normal of this trans? What are some mods I can do to this truck bring up the power without a huge bundle of cash.

Used the tranny out of the lincoln and shortened the lincoln driveshaft and used it in the truck. Only thing we did to the tranny was add a shift kit. What a sweet ride. I think if I was you I would do about the same and use the tranny out of the lincoln to get away from the electronics and you would have a fun ride then.
I did the same thing when I first built the 429, I put it in a 79 f-150 4x4 the motor blew the rest of the drivetrain to pieces( 3 trannies, 2 rearends) the I put it in a 84 f-250 and that only ate a ring gear.

429's never came in pickups, that I know of.
(pickups didn't get Lima engines until after 429 production ceased for passenger cars)

Now, there are plenty of long snout 429's (both gas and propane) in larger trucks like F700's.
But then you have to turn the crank and mess with a whole bunch of stuff to make them work.

Headers and a single 3" exhaust would help.
4X4 and a side tank make true duals pointless.

MAF trucks were '96-7 Cali only.
Conversions are expensive.

I have a gearbox, but Baumann makes an OptiShift controller+ harness
And Transgo has 1/2" valve bodies, these are not as expensive.
Beyond that I don't know much about E4OD's

I searched up this thread... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ft-module.html

It just occurred to me... have you checked your fuel pressure?

I find it hard to believe an unladen 460 P/U can't break the tires loose.

The one going to the FPR....
Is there fuel inside the vacuum line?
What pressure do you see with it disconnected?

The fpr is on the drivers side fuel rail just to the right of the distributor next the the fuel rail connections. It has a vacuum line on the top that connects to the center vacuum port in the lower intake manifold.

I agree with Nevada Al, if your that close to Scotty J he is your answer. That dude can help you out. If your serious about making it run do what he tells you. I told him I wanted mine to pull like a freight train, did what he said and it pulls like a freight train. It even got an average of 1.3mpg improvement while doing this.
