I was chasing a noise under the truck tonight (was a lower shock bolt, I recently replaced coils and shocks), and I noticed that the cast steel spacer/seat under the driver's side coil is about 1/2 inch shorter than the passenger side.
I had noticed since putting on the new coils last week, that the driver's side set a bit lower, but attributed it to fuel, my butt in the seat, etc. I am wondering if this is common, or has someone replaced the piece somewhere along the line and got the wrong one.
There are shims that are sometimes put on from the factory as different trucks sometimes lean more one way of the other. Also a previous owner may have put some on.
Well, the passenger side spacer is about 1 1/4 inches tall and is a solid cast piece. The driver's is about 3/4" to 7/8' tall and is also solid. I am thinking about either buying some 1 1/2" tall aluminum spacers, or making my own out of steel to level it out.
