Back to truthiness....
On a whim, my brother spied a truck down the street from me and bought a 69 Bump LB, 2WD with a 360FE, C6, two-barrel, with 3.00 rear gears, and stock tires. He drove it from my place (SF Bay Area) to San Diego on I-5 ranging between 65 and 70 mph and averaged 15.8 mpg. That's gold for an FE.
