Have a 2006 F350 Super Duty 4X4 Dually and looking for a chip or programmer or ?....to improve gas milage ans assist with my camper on board - suggestions?
Your truck doesn't take a "chip", but a tuner. If you haven't installed ARP studs, don't do it. If you have, most here go with the SCT X3 with custom tunes.
AGAIN, ONLY if you have ARP headstuds installed......
Not necessarily true. While increasing HP/TQ does increase one's chances for "issues" with the heads, the mere fact of having a tuner on there doesn't make it the case.
A lot of it, in my humble opinion, has to do with how a tuner(device) makes it's power out of the truck and that has the biggest direct result on if you will have issues out of the heads or not. Custom tunes lowers those odds. I'm not saying that they aren't there, but not as high if they go with a reputable tune writer.
However, the OP does have to proceed at his own risk.

I forgot to add, please don't do this with a mind toward MPG improvement. These are performance enhancement products first and foremost. Don't fall into the huffing that the companies due in their ads. Read the small print if in doubt. I saw a lot of "results not typical", "our customers noticed..." etc, when they really try to sell the MPG improvement aspects.

Would YOU advise anyone to tune their Ford with a 6.0 engine to install a tuner that DIDN'T have studs???

yep. in a heartbeat. As with everything, if you want to play, you have to pay.
So if you do tune, be aware you could have issues.
I am going to run Gearheads SRL tune on my unstudded 6.0...however I am going to ask him to detune it a bit. I want more performance, but honestly just a little less turbo lag and I'd be 1 happy customer. This truck will spin my 35" tires easily once boosted. Just getting into the boost takes a little effort off the line

Either start boosting while you're stopped or roll into it. In all honesty, rolling into is actually better in my opinion.
I know when I roll into the boost on my truck it is pretty damn quick, but having pretty low gears helps as well. However, I must say that the peak boost I've seen on my turbo is 52PSI.
I figured out the roll-in on the throttle a few weeks back. Then read about it somewhere on here. Thought there was something wrong...then thought about it and the VGT stuff
