My truck shows low voltage on the dash gauge while the altenater shows an output of 14.6 at the battery and the fuse box under the hood. after driving for 45 minutes or so the gauge starts to climb to amore normal position and the accessories function much better, including engine performance.any sugestions as to whats wrong.thanksfor any help.
Check the battery terminals, the ground wire terminals, and all the ring terminals at your starter relay on the fender near the battery. They should be clean & tight. Use a fine-bristle wire brush to polish them, and lube them with anti-sieze compound. Also, check the terminal on the side of the engine-compartment fuse block.
yES IT IS A VOLTMETER AND EVERY TERMINAL THAT i CAN FIND BOTH POWER AND GROUND ARE CLEAN AND TIGHT. i HAVE A HAYNES MANUEL BUT SOME OF THE WIRING DIAGRAMS ARE NOT DETAILED OR ARE INCORRECT FOR THE VOLTMETER AND IGNITION SWITCH WIRING. iF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS LET ME KNOW. THANKS.
