EGR
What effect will a non working EGR have on my 85 TFI/Feedback motor? It doesn't hold vacuum but doesn't appear to leak either and the little solenoid on the valve cover that goes to it doesn't work either, from what I can tell. The motor seems to start and run great.

When your truck is warm and idling, reach a finger behind the EGR valve and gently push in the valve plate a little bit. When you do that, your engine should stutter and almost stall. If so, that is an indication that it may be working perfectly fine. It is only supposed to open with a warm engine at significant throttle, injecting exhaust gas into the combustion stream when it really won't hurt performance (and may just help a little).

I don't think it's frozen it just wont hold any vacuum when I hook my little vacuum pump up to it. So, beings it is suppose to only work when up to temp and cruising speed, how do you go about testing the valve and relay that controls it?
