Can anyone tell me who manufactures a good set of headers that are roughly the same length as the stock exhaust manifolds on a 302. I discovered after having duals run that I now have a manifold thats cracked all the way through. I think now would a good time convert to headers, but because of my fairly new exhaust system that mates up to my existing manifold, I thought it would a waste of money to have new pipe ran. Any help would be greatly appreicated. By the way the trucks an 87 f-150 w/efi
I have an '89 Bronco with a 302 and have been running a pair of Flow Tech shorty headers for the last six years without any complaint. I just asked for a pair that would bolt in to the stock Y-pipe and have a 3/8" flange (I heard if you go thinner than that, you'll get warpage which = leaks)
If you are looking for something for looks, make sure you get ceramic coated or stainless. I don't care about the shiny stuff so much so I just went with regular finish, which showed rust before they were on two months.
I had trouble for a while burning through the cheap gaskets until I went for a pair of Earls header gaskets from Summit. They have an aluminum frame with graphite inserts, been running those for about three years and haven't had one problem with them.
