Welcome! The Avatar is fine. Some people are just too biased and too narrow minded to look past the sterotype.

Cpt. Diesel, congrats on your 99 e350 psd.

Still trying to replace my minty '98 F150 XLT 4X4, that just turned 30,000 miles, w/an E-150 Club Wagon Chateau or Traveler w/sliding side door.

Am a Confederate Yankee & consider Off Topic comments criticizing contributor's heritage in "poor taste".

Welcome Cap'n----------so how about a few photos and the story of how this came to rest in your driveway? From whom or where, crazy good deal, too good to pass up or just something you'd wanted/needed for a while? Odometer reading, accessories installed or any you're hoping to add along the way?

Inquisitive (aka nosey) people wanna know!!

Nothing to do with heritage , that flag is a symbol of division and oppression , something I consider "poor taste" .

Heritage has EVERYTHING to do with that flag, dude! Implying that it is in "poor taste" is an insult to my family ancestory and everything we believe in. It has NOTHING to do with division or oppression. You watch too much tv. Why don't you spend some time down south and learn a little about the people who were born and raised there and EXPERIENCE the culture before you start making biggoted statements?

Captain Diesel came on this forum as a new member, proud of his acquisition and you begin to cause "division" by slamming his avatar. Who gives you the right? I work all over the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe. Only people like you who are ignorant and narrow minded give parroted knee jerk statements like what you have about "division, oppression and poor taste". Poor taste is what you have in your obviously uneducated opinion. Get over it. We are from the south and are not just PROUD of that fact, we are thankful and that is still OUR flag, like it or not. I have a black friend who marched from south Carolina across the U.S. with the Battle Flag of the Confederacy, because his ancestors fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy. It stands for HERITAGE, his and ours. History revisionists and the entertainment industry will tell you that the war was because of slavery when the fact is that it was fought for a state's right to secede from the union.

Captain Diesel, keep her flying! Our ancestors would be proud of you! And congratulations on your acquisition. I hope it is better than you hoped it would be.

If someone here has the right to display any particular avatar then another has the same right to make a comment. Honestly, stating an opinion something is in poor taste isn't that big a deal---after all doesn't freedom of speech include avatars and opinons about them? Those looking to make this a bigger issue than it really is are making more of a mess here than one opinion. Fact is no one's opinion or mindset will be changed regardless how much bickering occurs over something as meaningless as an avatar.

How about everyone being proud of their heritage and leave it at that? True strength in your beliefs tends to make you immune to contrary opinions others might express. Suck it up and move on--------please!

And once again Captain Diesel welcome to these forums-----typically a more calm place to hang out!

Repeating your Off Topic criticism & denying CAPTAIN DIESEL's expression of "heritage" is even worse "taste".

Try asking what Native Americans "consider" the stars & stripes to be "a symbol of". An 'Indian' could justifiably answer genocide & theft of ancestral homelands.

Suggest you "consider' adopting the policy: it's always good "taste" to post On Topic.

You can spin it any way you want to, but the Confederate flag carries with it negative connotations. To you it is a symbol for the southern way of life. To others it is a symbol of racism and oppression. Displaying the flag in any public setting will stir up controversy.

C'mon you effin people. It's a thread about a van. If his avatar bothers you, you don't have to stay. Leave. If you have nothing better to do but rag on the man for his choices, perhaps some self-examination is in order.

Still waiting on CD to report the details...

We did "spin it any way (we) want to" & moved on.

Suggest you do the same, b/c "in any public setting" some think Ford vs. Chevy is "controversy".
