Today I install the exhaust on my truck. After removing all the stock exhaust and the POS shorty headers that I purchased from ebay (Boost Brothers shorties, don't waste your money, leaked like crazy). I actually had to use a cut-off wheel to remove the passenger side shorty. I bought a set of OBX long tube headers with the resonator y-pipe. Headers went on pretty easy. Y-pipe was about six inches too short to connect them, so I used a piece that I cut off the old exhaust pipe. A little bit of welding and it was good. Then I installed the Banks Dual Exhaust system (P/N 47504). The piping came in ten pieces, literally. One pipe was about twelve inches too long, so I cut it. I started clamping it together when I notice that the tips are at a slight angle out the back. I called Banks engineering tech support and they said it was normal to clear the rear springs. So I continued clamping. Stepped back for a look and saw that the passenger side sticks out a little more than the driver side. Easy fix. Removed the tip and cut off about and inch and a half, re-clamped it, looks good. I'll finish welding it all up later. The O2 Sensors are too short so I will have to extend them later as well.
I'll post pictures later. For $1100, I got awesome sound that's not too loud and I can definitely feel the difference. I'll let you guys know about the mpg later, need to drive it around a little. I hope this helps you guys looking to do an upgrade.
Sorry, don't have the headers (which im guessing are expensive), just the dual exhaust. Their Flowmasters. Some love 'em, some hate 'em. I love mine. Perfect balance of noise and aggressiveness. Now trying to come off ignorant, I just can't imagine spending that much on exhaust considering that I am perfectly content with my $500 exhaust.
Well the headers were $550 and the Banks exhaust was $550 with a military discount. I thought about Flowmasters but then decided to slowly get the banks power pack but with long tube headers instead of shorties. I could have gotten a set of Pacesetter LTs for around $250 but chose the Stainless OBX. My duals have a nice deep drone sound. Not loud until I floor it, then I wake the neighbors. I'm pretty happy with what I got.
