Fender/cab question

Hi all,

I was wondering if the cab and the bed off of a 1973 Ford f100 would fit on a 1978 ford f250 frame?? The f100 does not come with fenders or any of the rest of the front end, would the fenders, grille and whatever else that were on the 78 fit onto the f100 cab and bed? Thank you for all your help and have a great day!!!

Yes, the cab, fenders and bed should all interchange. I am assuming the F100 is also a longbed.

I think the frame is narrower on the 73 than the 78 you may have to drill the mounting holes but no big deal.

1973 F100 & 1978 F250: The rear frame rails are the same width:

33 1/2" width between the inner rear frame rails: 1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys) / 1973/79 F350 Regular Cabs on the 140" wheelbase.

37 1/2" width between the inner rear frame rails: 1973/79 F100/350 except as noted above.

Stylesides: 1973/76's have exposed fuel caps / 1977/79's have fuel doors.

Not only are the left quarter panels (bedsides) different 1973/76 vs 1977/79, but so are the fuel filler tubes and fuel filler hoses.

And, if the truck has the Evaporative Emission system, the fuel cap(s) are non vented and the filler tube(s) are specific to non vented fuel cap(s).

The width between the inner frame rails (behind the cab) is either 33 1/2" or 37 1/2"

Since you have a High Boy, the frame rails on your truck are 33 1/2."

This rear frame rail width jazz also applies to rear bumpers and brackets.
