Radius Arm Bushings

I have a 96 EB Bronco and the Radius Arm Bushings are ready to be changed out. I have heard in the past that some people get some rivets drilled out to replace these. I glanced under mine and from what I gather, the brackets are bolted to the frame. Is that right or am I missing these rivets?

THe only way they are bolted to the frame is if they are after market, usually they're changed if you have a lift kit. So I don't think you should have any rivits!!

I've heard that some were bolted on the Bronco's so you're probably seeing the right thing. I've also heard that some were bolted on one side and not the other. I don't know why. ???

Yes, the later trucks had one or both radius arm brackets bolted on from the factory. My 96 parts truck has bolts in both, but there's at least one rivet on the driver's side.

The raduis arm brackets on my '92 were bolted on the driver's side and riveted on the passenger side. An air chisel took the heads off the rivets quicker than any other method I tried...and I tried several. When I replaced them (before the 4" lift) I found a set of polyeurethane bushings made by Moog. The only reason I mention them is that they had the holes drilled off center and an alignment adjustment capability that allowed for about 2.5 degrees +/- of caster adjustment. Along with a locking mechanism to keep the alignment adjustment, they were molded with hex-nut-type ends so that they could be turned in the brackets once they were mounted. I can't recall the Moog part number but any dealer should be able to look them up. Good luck with the project.
