Stock rim width

What is the stock rim width for an 86 F-150 4WD?

If you have the stock 1986 silver steel wheels (wagon wheels), the size is 15 x 7".

7" was the widest wheel offered during these years.

You're welcome. In 1987 - 1991, Ford offered the same silver style "wagon wheels" in a 15 x 8" size that came on Broncos and possibly the 4wd F-Series trucks as well.

Most stock issue rims that take some sort of wheel cover are 6 inches wide. Those other wheels were optional.

I found a set of what i believe to be stock rims with a chrome ring in the junk yard i was thinking about buying. I want to get rid of the 31's i have on my truck right now and go back to stock size.

If they have chrome "beauty rings", they must be the deluxe "wagon wheels" Ford used from 1982 - 1991. As I said before, they can be either 15 x 7" or 15 x 8", depending on what they came off of.

Do they look like this?

So, the 15 x 8 white wagon wheels that I got on the '82 donor are later issue? They are stamped Ford, so were stock for something. Thanks for the info.

I have never seen nor heard of white Ford wagon wheels in the 15 x 8" size.

However, the white wagon wheels that Ford did offer were 15 x 7". If you sure they are 15 x 8", I suppose it is possible that someone got a set of the later 8" wide wheels and painted them white.

Well, they have certainly been rattle-can painted, so it is quite possible they weren't white to start with. They would have been silver new?

I'll have to pull one, again, and make sure I know what I'm talking about, but I'm pretty sure they say Ford and 15 x 8. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong - today. But, I know that another FTE'er and I looked them over and remarked that they were 8's.

Stock wheel sizes for the F-150/U-150 and E-150, during this time frame (80/86).

1) 15x5.5
2) 15x6
3) 15x7

Most comon factory tire sizes in todays metric measure: P215/75R/15(XL or SL) or P235/75R/15(XL or SL).

There were some SAE measure tire sizes avaliable, but not sure what good it would do to post them.

This is sort of on-topic. What are the stock size on the 1985 F-350 2wd Crew Cab? The tires that are on there now don't have the normal identifying tags. The fronts have 6 lugs and the rear has 8 if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Yes. Those are exactly like the ones I've been looking at (minus the tires of course LOL). I think they would go perfectly with the color of my truck.

That doesn't help at all. Did Ford even have a 6 bolt pattern? I am thinking not.

I think they would go perfectly with the color of your truck too, billt. Ford called those wheels Deluxe Argent Styled Steel Wheels and those were the best wheels (highest option) offered from 1982 - 1986.

If you want to be correct, the Bullnose years ('80-'86) had the black/red center medallion wheel centers and the red rally stripes in the wheel rings, just like the picture I posted. Later versions after 1989 used a solid black center medallion and dropped the red stripes in the wheel rings.
