Anybody ever pulled the carpet and scrubbed it or pressure washed it? Mine is filthy. I'm curious if it can be cleaned like that and then dried completely or if I'm just better off buying a new carpet mold for it.
Guess I'm worried about the padding soaking up water and not completely drying out.
Did that to mine right after I got it, and it took about 3 days haning in the shop by the wood stove (with it rooling the whole time) for it to dry out, and all I did was clean with a carpet shampooer, no pressure washing. IMHO you would be better off to puta vynal fllor in. I did that about 6 month ago (rear window was leaking and carpet got moldy) and I love it, so much easier to clean.
I know it sounds scary, but bleach wont take color out of synthetic fibers. Try it on an obscure place first, but it should be fine. When we clean the carpets in our house we use bleach mixed with water. Works great.
I used a Rug Doctor I rented earlier this summer, I didn't pull the carpet but I did make sure it was during a stretch of hot dry weather before I did it. It worked great, those things are made for home carpet so handling a truck interior was nothing, took all the stains and ground-in mud and dirt right off and made it look new. I was also able to do my cloth seats with it and they looked brand new, just be careful not to use too much water/solution or it'll take forver to dry. I put some "Damp-Rid" in my truck after I finished to absorb the moisture after I was done.
Thanks guys. I plan to pull the carpet just so I don't have to drive around with it wet. I'll have to try the bleach trick on a spot first to see what happens.
John, get some cappet cleaner called Spot Shot available at Wally World and just spray it on any spots then pressure wash. Spot shot is amazing stuff on cleaning spots. I have pressure washed several interior auto carpets and the results are amazing using a pressure washer and spot shot. Tha hardest part of getting it done is having to pull the seats but the results are worth it.
One of the most efficient ways to clean carpet is to invest in truck mount carpet cleaning equipment. The truck-mount units consist of powerful internal systems that allow jobs to be completed quicker and more efficiently.
