Diesel Forum Changes

Hey Alan,

Over the last six months or so I lost much of my interest in the Diesel forum, as those of us with older non-PSDs were getting crowded off the page by all the PSD posts. This was disappointing, but at least it was was understandable. Now there are TWO PSD forums, and those of us with the earlier 6.9s and 7.3s apparently have no place to go. As an early Club FTE supporter, this is another disappointment to me. How about a "Non-Powerstroke Diesel" forum?

I agree with you, Curmudgeon. Seems to me the idi owners need a posting area perhaps even more than the other diesel owners as our engines are older, have more miles, and have more chances of failure. It would be a nice improvement to the FTE forum if we were to be treated with the same troubleshooting individuality which the 7.3 psd and the 6.0 psd now enjoy. R.A.

As Ken has time, he is going to break the forum down into the basic engine classes. The 6.0 was the first to come out and the others will follow later.

As this forum is split up, we have to search through all of the threads and then move the appropriate ones over to the new forum, one at a time.

Look at the FTE state chapters, that's how the diesel forum will look.

Thanks Alan, and thanks Dieselzen for echoing my sentiments. The older IDI engines are a blessing to those of us who appreciate bulletproof simplicity, and don't care much for electronics and computer controls. I've been waiting for the wheels to fall off my old '91, but I can't seem to kill it. It has 267,000 miles on it and still purrs like a kitten. I would hate to drop off this site for lack of a good IDI forum. Keep up the good work Alan.

I definatly think that you should do a non powerstroke diesel forum and a general diesel forum for all diesel related questions. It will keep alot of guys happy.

As alanscott mentioned, it was my intention to add another forum for the earlier engines. I can only do so much in a day. Diesel forums have been moved to the engine/performance section and a new pre-Power Stroke section added.

Many thanks to Ken for getting a new forum for the IDI's. I know it must have taken you a lot of tedious work to go through all of the old threads to get each diesel forum it's own archive.
The IDI may not be made anymore but it is certainly good to know there are folks around who still appreciate them and aren't willing to obsolete them.
