I have a stock air intake, and there is an inlet tube (2" diameter maybe) that comes off the front. Its connected to the air box, but hanging loose on the other end. Can someone please tell me what that is, and what it's supposed to be connected to?

That sounds like the "snorkel" tube...if it's made of rubber. Should go into the driver's side fender behind the battery. Should look a little like a radiator hose coming off the front of the air filter if we're talking about the same tube.

Yea, thats probably it. Its not that long, maybe a foot at most. I am not sure if it will reach into the fender, but I will go check it out real quick.

If you have question, post a photo of it. I'd shot one of my truck...but it isn't near by
I would do the photo, but the response was spot on and answered my question. I actually saw the hole that it goes into front in the front frame, behind the light.
As far as I know it draws air out of the fender/inner wheel well...but I'm not 100% sure on that. And really not sure it's necessary; but I leave mine in place since someone higher up the pay scale designed the truck with it. I know the ZooDad mod gets allot more air into the filter than that tube could ever dream of.
Everything I've ever seen and read, says that the tube is there mostly to limit the intake noise from the engine and it is not required to for the engine to operate correctly.
