Yard Art

I posted an ad in the classifieds offering a complete '56 front axle assembly and have gotten one interested party that wanted some of the brake stuff.
I can't believe that there isn't someone who might be restoring one that wouldn't be interested in this unit (preferably in the So Cal area).
Otherwise, I'm gonna have to haul it to Arizona when I move next week and use it for desert yard art. My wife wasn't too thrilled with that idea.

As we speak, I have 3 extra front F1 axles (two of which still have the springs attached). All of which were thrown in on parts deals when I was actually there to buy something else. So I know the feeling. Other than the spindles and the brake parts (the old classic hot rodders love to get hold of them for their "juice brake" conversions), I don't know that you can give away one of the straight axles nowadays. So many people replace them with IFS systems.

I wish you guys were closer, I'd take all of them.......they work great as trailer axles.

I know this will end up being a stupid question (hope not), but what kind of spindle do you use? Or do you weld the original somehow? I've got two and could definitely use them to make a trailer like that. Or do you just lock the tie rod somehow?

I would love to use one and find a F2 or F3 bed to make a trailer... I have one from a 80 Ch3vy Longbed. Love them longbeds as trailer...

For a trailer application just weld the spindles solid, your not actually using the kingpins or bushings anymore. Just be sure to have the alignment adjusted first.
