Do you have a wire schematic of the IST cable and a list of the pin changes you made?

I'd like to see that. I see that as the start point.

As you can see, it's pretty shot. Based on what it does, could have at least contributed to the problem. I already have this and other sensors on order to be replaced. Going to start new since these are pretty cheap.

Be careful not to buy the cheapest of the cheap sensors... You'll regret it later! I suggest Borg Warner or OEM.
