1999 Ranger 4.0l Stepside Filler Neck

So I got a problem. I believe I asked this before but I never got an answer. When my truck got vandalized they put smoething in the filler neck, it keeps shutting the gas pump off. I am wondering if its something blocking the dang thing or what? When I filled it the one time I had to, it just bubbled up really bad, was wondering what that could be?

That certainly a possibility.get a piece of small hose or tubing and see if you can posh it all the way through to the tank. If you hit a blockage, you know something is blocking the filler pipe. Don't force so hard that you may push whatever is causing the blockage into the gas tank. If you find a blockage, remove the filler pipe and push the blockage out through the filler end.

Let us know what you find out.

Are you asking: Is the filler pipe salvagable? I think so. Have you tried pushing something through the filler pipe to find out where the blockage is?

Another option is to pull the pipe out of the tank and see what it looks like. If the pipe is just plugged, clear the blockage and put it back in.

If the pipe is damaged, replace the pipe. That's expensive but it can be done.

If the pipe is clear, pull the bed and check the tank in the area where the pipe goes into it.

Goo luck and let us know what you find.

Ok, definitly will do that, anybody got an idea of how to go about pulling the bed? Is it just those like six bolts on the bed floor?

Years ago some kids put apples in my fill pipe. Hopefully it's something similar with yours -- something that comes out easily.

The 6 bolts hold down the bed, but you'll have to deal with the tail light wires and maybe some other miscellaneous stuff.

On my 88, the heads were T60 torx I believe. They were also tighter than snot. I ended up grinding them off. Hope you have better luck. It's tough to get at the actual threads with PB Blaster or whatever.

But, I might have actualy pulled the pipe out first. (can't remember). Hopefully somebody here knows.

Good Luck,

hj
