This am leaving work my 2000 F250 7.3. Pulled out of parking lot and my abs light came on, turn signals stop working, overdrive light on gear shift started flashing. No speedometer. So I decided to drive to my mechanic.
Pulled in and put it in park and shut it off. Started truck back up and everything was and has been working.
It usually happens when the batteries lose power. But since it started right up. Hmmm, Silly question but did you clean the battery terminals/cables lately? Also check the plugs/wiring going into the computer.
Here is a possibility, the O/D cancel switch wiring is known to chafe which will cause some of the symptoms you describe, except usually you loose the throttle too? And a fuse pops. Worth checking though

I agree with Scott. Check the connection for dirt or water then if you still have the same thing going on, I would change the sensor. Napa has this VSS sensor, but they call it the ABS sensor. It's not expensive.
