I have a tach that appearantly worked fine for a year, it's a Sunpro guage. When I accidentally grouned two wires that ran off of it, I disconnected it for a few months. The light remained hooked up and working, but I didn't have any power going to it therefore the needle didn't move.
Now that I spliced it into the same wires that run my XM radio and CB radio (I believe it comes off the ignition, because I told circuit city I wanted to XM to shut off automatically with the truck) and occasionally, especially when it's cold it flickers on and off. When it flickers the power is cut to the light and the needle, therefore I more or less ousted the possibility of a loose connection.
Since my pillar molding cracked anyway, and that's what it's attached to, I'm going to have to dismount it anyway, Should I buy another one and install it, or give this one another try, any ideas on how to wire this one or the next one differently?
I second the vote for a new one. I did a similar thing to an auto meter tach, and after finnaly giving up on it working, I cracked it open. Looked like a 4th of july bbq inside. With the relative inexpense of a tach, I'd opt to replace it.
