I apologize before I start because I know yall are probably tired of talking about the problems of the 6.0 first let me say why I'm concerned, 2 years ago I bought a used 04 F350 the truck was awesome looked great but was an absolute lemon I drove it off the lot with bad injectors and it just snow balled from their but while I was able to drive it I loved it! It was huge awesome looking extremely roomy truck! I ended up trading it in on a gas truck and have missed having a diesel ever since. Well I found a awesome looking 07 f250 with low miles that has the 6.0 my question is have they had any problems with the newer 6.0's? Didnt they work all the problems out that they had with the earlier models? Thanks for any advice
Sgordy, If you are trying to ask all of us if you are not going to have any problems, what-so-ever with a used 4 year old truck, then don't buy it! Do an oasis or carfax report on it and find out it's history. Is there any warranty time left on it? is it a reputable dealer? You state that you drove the other truck off the lot with known injector problems and then call it a lemon?
Sorry for the smart **** answer im going to give you....
Its could have all been avoided if you spent a little extra time reading up about 6.0's what to look for..what to bring with you....
You could of had it checked out by a well known shop that knows 6.0's or a good Ford dealership that knows 6.0's well.....it all could have been avoided and you wouldn't have ever had bad luck with that 6.0
Now for a normal answer....
You already know what to look for when you test drive it since you bought one with problems, you should have it checked out 100-200$ can save you thousands in the long run and you will thank yourself for doing that...Ask for maint reciepts, oasis, carfax...etc.
Show us a link to the truck, maybe some of us can point out somethings you might have missed.
Welcome to FTE Sgordy As with any vehcile.....used, buyer beware but arm yourself with knowledge to make the experience better on your purchase. The diesel is addictive (power) but is more expensive to maintain. If you warrant the use of a diesel then we are all here to answer any questions you have about the 6.0L diesel.
2007 is a good year, Commonized engine, with many updates over the previous 03 to 05 engine. We have a wealth of information in the Tech Folder for you to read. Previous history on the truck is a good start, a Ford Dealer should be able to allow you to look at the OASIS report of any repairs under warranty. Clean oil and fresh filters, drive it like you stole it attitude, will go along way to keep you happy.
I'm well aware of the chances of buying a used vehicle big red read the question again, and I want aware when I drive my 04 off the lot that the injectors were bad it want till after a week or so they went out, and powerstroke your right I didn't do my home work when I bought it so thats why I'm here now trying to get knowledge from yall, maximum thank you thats the answer I was looking for I really appreciate it, I'm going to go test drive it tomorrow and if I decide to buy it I will take it straight to a local well known diesel mechanic to have him check it out
The 6.0 is a good platform but is also a breed of it's own. Make sure your mechanic is specifically up on the 6.0 or he can cause more harm than a lack of knowledge on your part. There are numerous threads where so called good diesel mechanics have caused thousands of dollars in erroneous repairs for the owners. The 6.0 doesn't respond well to people that just throw parts at the problem. They have to be educated mechanics, not back yard mechanics.

Smart man! That will save you a lot of hassle trust me.
If you get it done BEFORE dropping your money into the dealers hand, returning the truck will be a LOT easier if you hadn't bought it first! You will have a lot more dealing power if the money is in YOUR pocket!
