I have access to the interior out of a recked 91, I would like to put in my 86 that is in bad need of new interior. will the carpet, door panles and other trim pieces fit?
I think the interior trim, the ones that go over the wheel well inside the bed are a different length. I pulled some out of a later 80s and they are about an inch too short for my 1990. I made them fit though.
The carpet should be close enough.. I dunno about the door panels, an electric 86 has different types of buttons, manual panels should work from both years I think, but don't quote me on that. All of the little trim pieces will work or come close.. of course the dash or most of the dash parts wont
A lot of the trim pieces from my 1980 would have fit in my 1990.
The center metal piece that goes over the headliner and top of the windshield is out of a mid 80s, my plastic panels above the doors are out of a 93 I think, the rear bed panels are out of a mid 80s, my door panels are from another 1990, all of the trim for the top is out of a mid 80s.
My carpet is custom molded but I did test fit the rubber 'carpet' out of my 1980 in my 1990 and it fit pretty darn well in all sections, I imagine real carpet would fit better. All of the mounts and screw holes and stuff were the same from my 1980 to my 1990, for the seats, seatbelts, etc. Even though I think 89+ are a tad longer than the earlier ones, carpet can be stretched in the spots it needs to be and you'll never know the difference.
