I got the 302 out of my F-150 torn apart and off to the shop last week for boring and am now starting to put together the parts list for the rebuild.
One thing I have not found a good answer for in the forum here is rear main seal material.
I have seen Poly (not sure what that is...), Viton, silicone and teflon (PTFE).
Is one of these really better? Which one would be best for a pretty much stock rebuild?
I am sleeving the crank (the old seal had grooved it pretty badly) so the new seal will have a good surface to run on. I just don't want to find out AFTER the engine is back in the truck that I used the wrong seal material.
