I've bought some wheels that are 9.75x16.5 but they came with tires that 9.5 16.5. My question is anyone knows if its safe to drive on those tires till winter us over any help would be appreciated
There is no problem at all with that rim and tire combo. You can go pretty radical with the width and still be safe.
I ran a truck for several years that had 8 inch wide rims with regular 75 series tires. No problems at all except as the snow got deeper, it wouldn't go because it was riding more on the smooth sidewall.
I worked with a guy that put 31x10.5 tires on stock toyota rims, and ran them consistently. The narrow stock rim would pull the sidewalls in, and the tire would wear in the middle. When they would get down, but still pass inspection, he would sell them to me for $100, and I would run them several years more, since they were like brand new on the outside edge, and I had wider 8 inch rims on a different truck I had.
