It's getting pretty chilly up here at night guys. I don't know if you'd enjoy this time of year at HV, especially if you don't have the shelter of a tent. Even with a tent it's getting to the point where it's a little uncomfortable at night. I'd say, you gotta be one of three: moderately prepared, fairly tough, or plain crazy to really enjoy a GTG at HV this time of year... At least, that is, without some kind of reasonable shelter. Good news is however, the mosquito populations have dropped off considerably.
If folks had amenities, I'd feel better about it... But when I read things like "I hope you have a tent" I get a little concerned about this idea. I'd hate to see people have a lousy time trying to deal with the elements. Maybe Summer time would be better for Hope Valley and the Deer Valley Trail?
I was not aware that this gtg was a sleepover. I do not have a tent as we used it for a storage shed in our backyard, and it eventually fell apart. And my sleeping bag is a cheap Target bag intended for indoor sleeping (go figure). Besides, with my leg injury there is no way I can get into one on the ground.
Well, now that the Bronco is mine, I guess I can take the back seat out and sleep there. LOL. Of course, being able to reach the handle to unlock the backseat is a challenge for me now. Anyway, the GTG is going to be at Pismo Beach on February 4th, and I don't think it is going to be a sleepover. So Joe, bring your Panzer, and I'll bring Panzer Jr. and we can do some wheeling.
We will have to find someone who has been there before and can suggest a meeting place. I am sure someone in the SoCal forum has been there, so i will pose that question to them.
