game camera for time lapse?

has anybody tried setting up a game camera (the kind you stick out in the woods to photograph deer) in a corner of their garage to take photos for a time lapse? seems like it would be easier than either taking them yourself or setting up a camera (SLR). plus it wouldn't take pictures if your not there while adding a little bit of a security feature.

I had a woods camera a while back. It was one that I tied around a tree, and it sensed movement and snapped a picture. Pretty interesting. Wasn't a time lapse.

I've recently used my iPhone, an app, and a tripod to do time lapses. I can choose picture intervals, and it works great and it's decent quality too unless it's really dark.

I have seen on a few that they have a minimum time between pictures, the way it sounds is if there is continuous movement it will only take a picture every 30 seconds (or however long you set it for), and it would be up to the user using editing software to create an actual time lapse.

What I would hope is that it could be fairly automatic in taking pictures, I would forget and/or be too lazy to use my phone.

The app that I use is really nice. It's called Gorillacam. It was like $3 or $5 I think. You can select for it to take up to 10,000 pictures at whatever interval you chose (1,5,10, 30, etc... Seconds). Just set it on a tripod and let it do it's thing. If you have a smartphone, you can probably do it pretty easily and cheap. Not DSLR quality, but it's also free or next to free depending on what app/software you use.

Also, if you have a series of pictures, you can throw them in a folder on your computer and use QuickTime to make the time lapse. Just choose to make a time lapse in QuickTime, and select that folder and it'll do all the work and export the file. Pretty simple.
