Anyone know where I could find an evaporator for a 71 F100 with factory air? I checked the usual suspects - our sponsor MotorHaven, L**, Obsolete Ford Parts, and DC.
When I rebuilt my '71s factory air, I took the core to a radiator/a/c shop and had it tested. If you have your old core, they can test and likely repair it. If not, new ones can be had from BIG truck a/c shops. The old York compressor is still being used on Mac's, Kenworths, and the like.
If your in Texas, check with South Texas Truck Air Conditioning in Houston. Otherwise, get out the phone book and start calling. A/C isn't hard to find parts for, but the old expansion valve on the inside unit is almost impossible to find. I found a NOS valve that worked and the shop told me it was the last one in Texas they knew of. I'd believe it too, I probably called 50 shops looking for one.
When I rebuilt my ac setup a couple yrs ago, I found everything I needed at local parts store. There's lot s of old Fords out here in the West, so they stock a lot of stuff. Just bought new front drums for my '72 4 wheeler for 40 bucks each at Napa store. $109 in Mac's Ford Parts catalog.
