Sure! I'm going to a TKO-500 but behind an FE. Google up these companies:
Keisler Auto
Modern Driveline
American Powertrain
... either way, it'll cost at least $3000... trans, bell housing, clutch, clutch actuating cable or hydraulic system , and shifter.
Another possibility is a ZF5 from later model Fords trucks.... IIRC, late 80s-era F250s with 460s came with 'em. Ding!!!
Btw, with an overdrive you may have to change your rear gears to a 4.11 or numerically higher in order to be within your engine's sweet spot for highway cruising. For example, a 0.68 fifth gear and 4.11 rear gears will result in a final drive ratio of 2.79 which is sweet ratio for freeway flying.
You have a big block so you can get away with some steep gears before it really begins to notice.
My Buick Electra had 2.73 gears, and could still burn the 255/60/15's from a stand still. Mind you I had the switch pitch T400 with roughly 2400 stall, headers, and a fairly aggresive tune.
So depending on what bolt-ons you have, and how much you really plan to tow. You can get 3.54's for your D60 or look for a D61 with 3.07 gears. Also remeber to do the math with the tire size you want to run or will keep on your truck.
Good idea to know what rear end you are playing with..... : ) but a fairly cheap swap and popular is the NV4500 used in the Dodge cummins and chevy Trucks... it handles a lot more torque then the TKO 500, or 600, and cost a lot less at about $1500 rebuilt on Ebay! Summit has a swap kit for the Ford Bell housings for about $260 and then you need to fab up a new trans cross member or get an aftermarket universal fit unit again about $250, and a heavier clutch... There is a how to in the tech Articles in FTE I think it is listed under NV4500 swap
You can't use the Cummins NV4500, the input shaft is a different diameter and I beleive the spline count is different IIRC. Been there tried that. Also, with a manual speedo drive the one you want is the one out of a 94-95 dodge. The chevy trans also has the wrong input, no choice but the dodge unless you really want to rebuild a new tranny before you put in and spend $400 on a new input shaft. 4wd trucks don't have the speedo drive problem due to the drive being in the t-case.

Most of the companies selling the NV4500 have the Gasoline version used by Dodge and Chevy trucks which have the proper Input shaft, and it is very easy to just use the 11 inch Chevy clutch, and it will bolt right on! Read the swap link it is all in there. Anaheim Gear in Anaheim CA, Offers the NV4500 set up for the swap with the proper input shaft for $1550 that includes a one year warranty, and a beefed up 5th gear if you get the later models you have to use a digital speedo, but if you use the Pre 95 trans then it is just a matter of having speedo cable made up... Don't nay say if you have not done the research! Anaheim Gear supplies gear parts to Curry Rear ends which is only a few blocks away! they are a very reliable source for parts.. Just do a little google searching !
if you have a 460 in it then any tranny for a 460 will work ford used that engine for 30 years i just put in a 5 speed zf transmission from a 1995 f350 in my 1967 f250 it bolted right up to my 1970 460 engine. No its not a direct bolt in but not too much work i had to modify my crossmember and linkage and have have some flywheel work done but i think its worth it

That is another easy alternative! How was the price on the tranny though? What did you spend total for the swap?
I've never added it all up I've spent so much money on this truck i try not to think about it. Let's see 600 for the trans 80 for the flywheel they gave me the clutch and pressure plate with it and it looked good so I used it I know I should have got a new one but I have to save money somewhere. 50 to get the flywheel neutrally balanced to Match my engine plus 20 for odds and ends I was able to use my clutch linkage cross member and stock driveshaft so about 750 for everything.
