Morning gentlemen, looks like some of us might actually have a shot at some rain a couple of days over the next week. That's a good looking "oil burner" you picked up there James. I wonder if you can get carried away with the 6.9L that some guys have done with the IDI 7.3L? I'd say that's a great looking ride about Will's new car...but it's got sparkplugs & the engine is mounted the wrong way. Though we may have one of those in our driveway in the not too distant future. The exploder is eating us alive with these current fuel prices... this 4.0L is not a fuel efficient engine; the Princess gets better mileage than the Exploder, and she's an all around bigger "lady".

It's amazing the amount of power these trucks make. Just don't repeat that too loud around Jeff...he's still against electronic diesels.

I'd like to say I like the way your thinking; but I'm a married man; just wouldn't be prudent. Just not going to do it. But I should be into another injector project soon (), I'll see if I can get you some more photos to support your habit.

I do like that color on your car Will.

Thanks but we didn't have much choice in color because that is all they had. The blue car sold the day before. It was real pretty and my wife liked it a lot but she really likes the gray car too!

Clarksville got a little rain last night. Happened shortly before I Went to work.

Stayed up Saturday night into early Sunday morning (do my best/most work after dark) working on the 1ton. Swapped grill inserts & bumpers with the '82. Cleaned the '82 out & swapped some tires around that I took up to the shop Saturday. Pulled the a/c condenser & a couple lines off the 1ton & put a piece of screen door screen over the radiator. Yesterday I stripped the bed sides off, drained the fuel tank (coffee colored & smelt like cheap whiskey) & put in a couple gallons I bought a few moneys ago.

This is what was holding the bedsides together:

The new diesels (2000+) really do have some pep to them. I drove a friends '04 crewcab dually to Memphis a few years ago & was surprised how well the 6.0 moved that fat *** down the road.

Sounds like some good stuff. Wonder if Regan or Bush H. was in office the last time that truck was fueled?

I'm assuming that was a stock truck...you should see what the "enhanced" ones will do. There is a guy here in town that has a '04 similar to mine (different color, and later 6.0L production)...that's making 500 hp at the flywheel. To say it will sheet & get would be an understatement. I hear there are a couple of 7.3L around LR that might be able to keep up with a stock 6.0L

Though right now a Yogo wouldn't have any problem passing my truck

Oh really? Guess they keep a low profile around here. With the exception of nccpartman...I think James or Alan are the nearest FTE chapter member to me. Maybe if I took a bath more often.....

I wish I knew This one just went from normal to "issues" within 40 miles Labor Day weekend headed home. The miss started at Anderson, MO; it was rather light and thought I should be able to limp home. By the time I eased her to West Fork, AR the EPA was in hot pursuit (Sheriff B.T. Justice style!) and I knew if I keep pushing things were going to get $$$ quick. At least we brought her home with another F250; though it was a 460 powered version. Wife said maybe I need to trade the Princess for something a little less "dramatic"

Anyone good with AE and understanding contribution tests? What the computer is showing me, and what I'm reading doesn't make any sense.

Contribution tests or rotational velocity per deceleration data? Contribution tests generally just tell you if you have cylinders out of balance. Also any DTC's that show up during that test.

I ran a contribution test on it Monday...the #2 looked low on the comparative graph. But from what was reading in the 6.0L forum if it's leaking fuel (I've got a large white cloud of unburnt fuel out the tailpipe); the offending stick should be higher...not lower than the others. She's not loosing coolant or making oil...so I'm fairly certain it's all going out the tailpipe. If there was a stored code related to the failed injector...I couldn't find it with AE.

The true root of the problem is I need to figure out how to clone myself. That way one can go to work and the other can work with the toys.

This is what happens when the dumper operator at the power plant doesn't notice the cars aren't turn the right way to allow the one in the dumper to rotate. The shank of the coupler is made of 1/2"-5/8" steel.

There should be a 132 ton car of coal on the right hand side of that photo...should is the operative here.

Little picture fail. Good job Zach.

I have officially started buying oil in bulk. I normally buy enough for an oil change & have some on hand for just incase. I bought a new oil & fuel filters for my 1 ton, oil & a few more things. The oil, by the case. Now I just need to get Rob to get me some 10/30 Rotella so I dont have to go to those other stores in town for oil.

What sucks about the 1 ton is that the bed sticks out far enough to catch the rain off the roof to it goes to the front of the bed then on the floor. Right where I need to be for an oil change.

Also bought some chicken wire, 2x4s & hardware so I can make a better top for the chicken pen.

Normally I'd have a larger photo...and if you go to my FB it's better. But we're not allowed to carry cameras at work, unless your taking a picture of a safety violation. I took that photo with my iPhone since that's the only "camera" I have with me at work. Guess I need to start uploading the photos to somewhere other than FB so FTE doesn't shrink the photos when I post the photo over here.

I don't know about a 6.9L...but my 6.0L takes about 15 qt of oil for each oil change. I've often thought about buying it by the 55 gallon barrel and getting one of those air powered dispensers like you see at the quickly lubes. But then reality sets in, I've owned the truck for 4 years now and by my math I just now have gone through 45 gallons of oil. Pretty sure the oil wouldn't be good that long.

Not sure which is worse thinking (A) "wow, I've only gone through 45 gallons of oil" or (B) "wow, I've used 45 gallons of oil through my PSD".

Out in the barn I have somewhere around 12-15 5 gallon buckets of oil. Didnt start 'saving' it until we bought the house so.... right around 3 years. Wife's car, my '90, '82, '94, trans fluid from Bronco. I think there MIGHT be a random oil change I did for someone in there.

If my wife had a car that would take 15-40 Rotella, I probably would buy in bulk since thats what I run in my trucks. From what I have read on the 6.9, it holds 10qt. I didnt get the stock filter, I got one for a 7.3 PS & it looks nearly twice as tall. My thinking is that will bring it up to 11 qt or so. 2.5 gal Rotella & 1qt of Lucas.

The air powered oil gun are kickass. We have a 500-600 gallon tank at work & it dont take long to pump out 36-44qt.

Since we are talking about buying in bulk, I have thought about getting a small tanker trailer & using that for gas so my wife doesnt have to make a trip every week to fill up.
