351w missing/surging
I'll post this here for you motor guys. I seam to be having some missing problems with my 94-351w.
1. At idle while sitting at a light in gear it will idle at about 750 then drop to about 400 then back up. It will do this every 10 -15 seconds. If i put in in N it doesent do it. Now this porblem became evident after putting the rebuilt tranny back in.
2.When crusing down the road it feels like it misses, a slight surging. Then if i punch it around 2500-3000 it starts cutting out. I have a loud exhause and you can acutally hear it cutting out.
3. Also the miss at cruise seams to be right at the exact point the tranny wants to jump from drive to od and od to drive and I think its confusting the tranny. i cant really check to see of the tranny is ok now because i cant push the motor hard enough to see.
Im gona change the plugs/cap/roter this weekend and see if that helps. The tps and map have been replaced already.
4.what else can i check?
I can fix anything but i have no engine diagnosing experience.

Does your engine have an EGR Position Sensor (EPS)? Try replacing that. I had an '84 Grand Marquis with the same problem, and replacing the EPS fixed it. $18 at autozone. $50 or so at a Ford dealership.

I think i got it fixed. I changed the plugs, cap and rotor. I got to the last plug on the driversside and found it was loose. its hard to get to withthe headers on. It makes sence because this problem started arfter i regaped the plugs in the fall.
Also the middle two plugs on the driverside, the electrodes had a whiteish color to them alot more tha the rest. What does that mean? Bad head gasket?
