I was wondering if any body was having trouble with california smog. I am looking at buying a 2001 7.3 psd and want to put new single shot injectors, tuner ,exhaust and what ever else i need to make about 350-400 rwhp but i afraid it wont pass the black smoke part of the smog test when they snap the throttle.

Lots of guys have done just what you want to do. It can be tuned correctly and it won't smoke. It needs to look stock and don't remove anything related to smog. I had a tuner on mine and it passed. I told the guy it was there and eveything else is stock he told me there is so many in for approval they didn't fail it for that yet. Things do change.
