2010 F150 Upgrades

Someone out there with the wisdom please give me a little direction. I want to get dual exhaust put on my '10 F150 4.6, which one? I heard Magnaflow is the best. Also was thinking about the cold air intake system but read on these forums that its a waste of money. Is Magnaflow the best and any other upgrades anyone can recommend? Thanks!

Supercharger, twin turbochargers, bore & stroke the engine, roller cams, NOS, 10" lift kit with 44" tires and a solid axle swap up front.

Those are my modification reccomendations.

An exhaust will upgrade the sound - that's it. Of course it will give the sensation of improved performance by your butt dyno, but that's only because your butt is connected to your ears through your brain and it's telling you the $300-$1000 you just spent MUST be a good investment.

The warmer-air-than-stock-under-the-hood-bling-intake is, well, just that, bling.

Without spending $1000s (like ebexp94 is suggesting), your best best (bang for the buck) is a tuner with custom tunes. Not saying he's wrong, just figured you were looking for a more traditional (low cost) approach.

Power Hungry Performance offers the Edge product line (CS and CTS) with custom tunes.

5Star Tuning offers the SCT product line (XCAL3) with custom tunes. Mike is a forum sponsor and I have not read one single negative post about his services or customer service.

He only uses 2 or 3 day shipping as opposed to overnight. I mean damn...I want my tunes next day, not 3 days from now!!!

Kidding. Mike is the best! Especially when you call him outta the blue when you cannot find where to remove the 2 degrees of timing he instructed you to take out...bonehead instance.
x2 on what Shotgunz is saying. The most cost effective means of finding performance upgrades is through custom tunes...not to be confused with canned tunes from the likes of BullyDog and HyperTech, etc.

Will, I have an "05" F150 4.6L The thing I would say you should get would be a K&N Air Filter.. Worth the Coin considering the amount of times you have to change your "Air Filter".. Personally, I believe them to be the finest Air Cleaners on the Market today..(no! I don't work for them or get kickbacks)...
As for the Dual Exhaust , Lot of Coin to shell out for limited performance & Mucho Noise!!! Save yourself the Tickets and stick too stock exhaust...
If you have to spend some Coin, Invest in a Tuner perhaps? yet, Your Call...
Lot's of luck and thanks for allowing me to share my opinion....

$15 for a MC filter, changed every 30k (per the maintenance guide), and NO risk of fouling the MAF with oil.

No thanks. I'll keep my OEM filter.

if all you are after is the sound then just have a local muffler shop cut out your stock muffler and install one of your liking. i am PO'd i got a duel exhaust, the left tailpipe keeps sagging, i wish i would have just stuck with the original tailpipe!

Thanks guys.. So the tuner is the way to go? What exactly is it going to do, offer custom sounds for exhaust? I looked it up on the site and there is no details on it, just the kit and no real description. I think I'll be staying with the stock air filter after reading up on it and taking your guys advice into consideration. I'm itching to do something to the truck but if I'm not going to see an improvement in power or performance then there's no sense.

I concur. Actually, since I have extra deep pockets, I change it every year.

Me too. X2 on not wasting your money on a K&N. As far as exhaust, I wanted something kinda different than the cookie cutter exhaust. I bought a Flowmaster 40 series SI/DO and had a muffler shop bend some duals that exit in front of the rear tire, kinda like the Lightnings did. Total investment with me buying the muffler from Summit racing was well under $300 and I have a semi-unique exhaust that sounds great. Also-Welcome to FTE!
