By the way, a bit off-topic. I can reply to threads using the Quick Reply feature on my laptop, but using the full editor, none of the buttons work (inserting picture link, bold, italic, etc.). Also, when I do type in a post in the full editor, when I either preview or try to post it, I get the error that my message had no content. I know it has worked before, as I've linked in pictures before, etc. Using Firefox, latest version, on Windows 7 64 bit. Anyone else? I might have to try another browser and see if that works. Another forum I am on uses the same editor and that works fine. Hmmm.
Washed up the truck today, removed some black goop I picked up on the trip to KY last weekend. Stopped by the local car wash place this evening and gave it a good vacuum, as well.
Found out the ABS works great. Traveling uphill, slight curve, 4-lane divided highway at 55 mph. Noticed brake lights at the top of the hill and, I guess, subconciously checked my mirrors (don't remember doing so). I had let off the throttle and had my foot over the brake when I noticed that not only were people slowing down (in both lanes), but they were doing so very quickly. Before I knew it, I was running up pretty quick on the car in front of me. I laid on the binders and could hear all 6 tires howling in protest (but not locked up). It became evident that I was not going to stop in time to avoid hitting the car in front of me, though if I had, it would've probably been a light hit.
At any rate, I swung the wheel to the left, swerved into the other lane and hit the throttle a bit in case anyone was coming up in the other lane. Once everything settled out and we continued on, we found the source of the problem - an old pickup truck bumping along about 5 mph with a shredded right-rear tire. He was desperately trying to fine a place to pull off (this section of road had no shoulders and a curb on the outside.
Good morning all. Looking forward to our daughter and granddaughter flying in tomorrow to visit for a week. First time our friends here will get to see the granddaughter in person.
Heading down to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Friday evening for a quick overnight while they are here.
